Before Your Appointment
No alchohol 24 hours before your appointment.
No Acetaminophen, Ibuprophen or other blood thinners 24 hours before your appointment. These products may cause excess bleeding during procedure. Excess bleeding interferes with the tattoo pigment depositing into the skin properly.
You must inform (prior to booking an appointment) if you are using a medically prescribed blood thinner. A doctor's letter of consent may be mandatory to proceed. You may be not be a suitable candidate to proceed with procedure.
Avoid excess coffee the morning before your appointment as it is may increase bleeding.
Avoid excess sun exposure for a few weeks before appointment. Sunburned skin will not be worked on.
Do not laser or chemically peel the face one month before the appointment.
Avoid 'Latisse' eyelash regrowth serum for two months before your eyeliner tattooing session. Latisse thins the skin of the lash line and causes pain during session. You must inform (prior to procedure) if you have used Latisse in the past.
After Your Appointment
After the first cleaning that immediately follows the procedure, apply the supplied healing ANTIBIOTIC ointment to the tattooed area one more time only and then discard packet. Then, onwards from the second cleaning, you will be using a MOISTURIZING balm (as needed) when the skin feels dry.
Gently wash area with pure, unscented soap 4-6 times a day. Wash, wash, wash! Washing regularly WILL NOT remove the pigment but keeps the tattooed area free of lymph/ plasma build up, allowing the skin to breathe and decreases excess scabbing. Ideally, your tattoo should only scab in the form of the hairstrokes. Large scabs are unsightly and not necessary to the process. Pat area dry with disposable paper towels. Apply moisturizing balm (with clean fingertips or cotton swabs) sparingly.
Do not use any cometic product on area for at least two weeks. Your tattoo needs time to properly heal. After two weeks, powder may be used in the area sparingly, until your second session.
Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs and saunas for at least two weeks following your appointment. You may shower and bathe as usual, but do not allow the area to be soaked in the water. When showering, avoid letting the shower spray hit the tattooed area. Pat-dry the tattooed area immediately after exposure to water. Pools, hot tubs and saunas are bacteria breeding grounds that should be avoided until your tattoo is fully healed.
Avoid touching tattooed area throughout the day except with freshly washed fingers during cleaning.
Do not laser or chemically peel the area until brows have fully healed AFTER SECOND SESSION.
Avoid excess sun exposure. Do not use sunscreen on the area until fully healed. To maintain pigment luminance and prolong your tattoo, it is advisable to wear sunscreen regularly as a habit.
Do not worry that the colour looks dark. Your tattoo will go through a few important stages before settling to it's true colour and shape- first darker and then slightly more faded (at about two weeks), it will shrink in height and pigment density before settling in. Pigment loss is normal and the second session will finesse the final look. This is all absolutely normal and part of the process.
